The urban bird population is
dramatically increasing
in size every day, resulting in blocked drains, gutters, bird fouling
and human disease.
The fouling of buildings and monuments frequently occurs
at places where the birds nest or roost, leaving unsightly droppings
over buildings and causing danger to pedestrians due to slippery pavements
caused by droppings.
Properties both commercial and residential, modern and
historic now benefit greatly from our bird proofing services.
Feral Pigeons.
Feral pigeons are regarded as potential transmitters
of disease, it is known that a high proportion of pigeons are effected
with Ornithosis (a mild form of Psittacosis), these are particularly
hazardous were food is stored in warehouses and processing plants and
may be eaten or contaminated, and the machinery fouled.
Gulls.
Gulls are medium sized to large and long winged,
conspicuous
birds which occur in large social flocks. They roost on roofs on private
homes, hotels and large warehouses particularly in coastal towns.
The fabric of buildings can be damaged by their constant
pecking at roof materials which gradually lets in dampness, and also
results in blocked gutters caused by nest debris and droppings as well
as fouling of washing lines and damage to garden plants.
Their habit of feeding at refuse tips implicates the
transmission of Salmonella SPP within their droppings.
The Food Safety Act 1990, places a formal responsibility
on organisations to act with 'due diligence' in relation to standards
of public hygiene.
Our surveyors will carry out a thorough inspection of
the building and the problems encountered by birds and then provide
a detailed specification employing up to six different methods of control,
from bird spiking to netting along with an estimate for the cost of
protecting your building from bird damage.
